Mana Mokopuna - Children and Young Peoples Commission is an independent advocate for all 1.2 million mokopuna aged under 18 in Aotearoa. We also advocate for care-experienced mokopuna aged up to 25.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
The HR Advisor role contributes to the smooth functioning of human resources operations within Mana Mokopuna. A key focus for this role will be to work with the HR Manager to support the organisation to navigate through any upcoming change linked to the recently announced review of the organisations legislation.
Working alongside the HR Manager, you will also be responsible for day-to-day HR activities as well as supporting special HR projects. Other key responsibilities include:
- Support recruitment processes such as drafting and posting jobs, shortlisting candidates, scheduling interviews; creating interview packs; drafting letters and communications.
- Assist in the review and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate employee records and handle confidential information in compliance with privacy laws and guidelines.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
This is a great opportunity for someone with at least 2-3 years of generalist HR experience, who enjoys supporting all areas of the HR function and can work autonomously.
Ideally, youll have a qualification in HR or related discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience in an HR related role. Youll have the ability to provide credible and robust advice and be seen as a trusted advisor to the organisation.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Knowledge of HR processes and compliance requirements
- Experience in leading the implementation of HR initiatives (the ability to integrate and apply Mātauranga Māori in HR practices is highly valued)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across diverse teams
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate and timely completion of activities
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion
- Knowledge, understanding and application of Te Reo Māori, Tikanga and te Tiriti o Waitangi or demonstrate a high level of willingness to work in this context
This Te Whanganui-a-Tara - based fixed term position is available through to the end of June 2025. We welcome a potential secondment from another agency.

- A salary between $86,186 min - $95,321 mid - $104,453 max gross per annum (dependent on experience)
